Hawaiian Healer Salve

Organic healing ointment made from carefully selected medicinal plants, infused in kukui nut and coconut oil, combined with beeswax.  The hawaiian healer salve is great for cuts, scrapes, sores, blemishes, acne, chapped lips, rashes.  It helps increasing healing time, relieves itchiness and discomfort, prevents infection, and soothes any skin irritation.  Using traditional Hawaiian plant medicine and modern herbalism, we have chosen the following plants for this salve:

Laukahi (or plantain) leaf because it draws out toxins.

Comfrey because it seals wounds.

Pohinahina because it is used for rashes.

Guava because it is an antioxidant and is good for skin infections.

Moringa because it is an antiseptic and reduces clotting time.

Turmeric because it is an anti-inflammatory.

Lavender because it is antimicrobial.

Spanish needle because it is antibacterial.

Tea Tree because it is an antifungal.

Most of the plants are gathered from our micro farm in Kailua, Hawaii.  What ever we cannot grow I forage for along hiking trails deep in the forest or along our beautiful coastline.   The fresh leaves are lightly crushed with a lava stone to break down the cell membrane and release medicinal essences.  They are then added to oil and warmed by sunlight and a very low heat for up to two weeks.  Once the oil is infused it is strained and mixed with melted organic beeswax which binds the ingredients into a lightweight balm for topical use.  Because everything we use is organic and plant based this salve is safe to use on all areas of the body, sensitive skin, near eyes, on lips, on young children, even infants.
